This is how I spent most of my previous 100 Thursday evenings
I’m moving back down to Cambridge next week so yesterday was my last session of life drawing in Aberdeen with the lovely folks of the Limousine Bull Artists’ Collective. I’ll miss the group but hope to find another one down South in the new year. I struggle with life drawing but still maintain that it is an essential part of any character animator’s practice. I feel like I can pose CG characters far more naturally when I’m regularly drawing from life, even when the drawings themselves are not as good as I’d like them to be. Below you can see a collection of some of my less disastrous attempts from the last few weeks:
They were all drawn on parcel wrapping paper with either charcoal & chalk or oil pastels. You may have noticed that they’re all women, it seems there is a shortage of male life models in Aberdeen.
